We at Yamaha Motor wish to express our deepest condolences to the victims of the recent earthquake off of the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, and of the resulting tsunami that devastated surrounding regions. To the countless thousands who lost their homes and property as a result of this catastrophic event, we offer our heartfelt sympathy and our wishes for a rapid recovery.
In the hopes of offering some measure of assistance to emergency relief efforts, at the time of this writing, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. and Yamaha Motor Group Companies in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, and other countries have decided to offer support to the affected regions on a scale totaling 100 million yen. In addition to 36.7 million yen in cash donations, this support will be provided in the form of emergency equipment and free repairs of Yamaha products. Details of this emergency support are outlined below. One hundred power generators were shipped to Sri Lanka and Malaysia as of the end of 2004, and have been supplied to local governments and emergency relief headquarters in each country through local subsidiaries and dealers.
